We are passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues. We believe that by giving people mental health knowledge and the skills to assist people experiencing mental health problems, we empower people and in turn they can empower others.
1 in 5 Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year, but there is still stigma and a lack of knowledge about mental health illness. We want that to change and know that providing people with mental health training works to do it.
Our training empowers you with the skills and confidence to support friends, family members and colleagues experiencing a mental health problem. It also gives you the tools to better manage your own mental health.
Empowered Lives provides a range of Mental Health First Aid Australia’s courses as accredited instructors. We have chosen to deliver Mental Health First Aid Australia’s courses because they are based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. They are relevant to people who have no knowledge or experience of mental illness, to professionals working in the field, to people with a lived experience and to people caring for someone with a mental illness.
We offer in-house services to organisations and businesses and can work with you to tailor mental health first aid training to suit your business needs.
Through collaboration with other mental health experts, carers and organisations we keep up to date and identify any opportunities for more targeted seminars and workshops.
We provide support coordination services to people in the western and north western suburbs of Sydney by support coordinators experienced in working with people with a mental illness.
Empowered Lives is committed to providing people with mental health knowledge and up-to-date information, so our website’s Advocacy section includes blogs, key mental health information, and helpful resources.
We run courses in locations in the metropolitan region of Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Central West. By running courses on weekdays, weekends and evenings, we can cater to people with different schedules.
