Do I receive a certificate for attending the course?

Yes, all participants receive a Certificate of Completion for attending the MHFA courses. After the course, you will be sent an email from MHFA Australia with a link to a free post-course eAssessment, after that is completed you will receive a Certificate of Accreditation which is valid for 3 years.

Can I come to just one day of the Standard Mental Health First Aid Course?

The Standard Mental Health First Aid course has been especially designed to be delivered as a 12 hour course in 4 three-hour sessions. The course builds upon the knowledge learned in earlier sessions, so it is recommended that you come to the full course. Without attending the full 12 hours you will be unable to obtain a Certificate of Completion or Accreditation. If for some reason you are unable to come to the second day of the course, you are welcome to come to the second day of a future course.

Do you offer other Mental Health First Aid courses?

Yes, we offer: Youth Mental Health First Aid, Mental Health First Aid for the Suicidal Person, Mental Health First Aid for Non-suicidal self-injury, Mental Health First Aid for Gambling problems, and Blended Mental Health First Aid for the Workplace. Upcoming training dates will be listed on the Training Home Page, and in newsletters. We intend to increase our course offerings in the future, we will advertise these via the newsletter and the Training Home Page.

Are you able to cater for Dietary Needs?

Yes, please let us know any dietary needs at least 3 days prior to the training to ensure are able to adequately cater for your needs.

What are the payment options?

If you book via the Event booking page you will be able to pay via Credit Card. You can also be invoiced and pay via Direct Deposit or credit card.

Can I claim Continuing Professional Development Points by attending the Standard Mental Health First Aid course?

Yes, The 12-hour Standard MHFA course has been endorsed for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, by the following professional bodies:

Australian Pharmacy Council

(Valid until 1 October 2019)

Standard MHFA course – Accreditation number: CX17134 This activity has been accredited for 12 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 24 CPD credits) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan.

College of Mental Health Nurses

(Valid until 18th July 2020)

Successful completion of the Standard Mental Health First Aid course earns 12 CMHN continuing professional education (CPE) points.


Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA)

(Valid until 11th September 2019)

This activity has been endorsed by APNA according to approved quality standards criteria. Completion of this educational activity entitles eligible participants to claim up to 12 CPD hours.

In addition, for the following professionals, if a relevant CPD learning goal can be met by a Mental Health First Aid course, course attendance can be claimed as continuing professional development (CPD) by:

  • Psychologists
  • Social Workers
  • Community Workers
  • Teachers
  • Dieticians
  • Speech Pathologists
  • Audiologists and audiometrists
  • Lawyers in some states and territories of Australia
  • Orthotists and Prosthetists

We are happy to sign CPD log books if required. 

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, our cancellation policy is as follows

  • Less than 14 days notice – No refund – however, you can transfer to the next course half price. 
  • 14-21 days – 50% refund – or transfer to the next course
  • 21 days + Full refund – or transfer to the next course

Changes in policy for Individual circumstances are subject to our discretion. Please contact us for information regarding transfers to a future course. 

Can I claim the Standard Mental Health First Aid course on my tax?

 Depending on your work or workplace you may be able to. We strongly recommend checking with you tax agent. We are happy to provide receipts if needed.

Do you have concession rates?

We offer concession prices for the following: Full-time students, Carers of people with a mental illness, holders of Health Care Cards, people on Centrelink benefits, Senior Card Holders, members of ACWA,  and members of ACCDP. Do you have group discounts?

We offer group discounts for 3 or more people, prices are as advertised on the booking page.
